
The Stinger
Produced for King Stingray "The Stinger" is a P90 powered surf rock dream made from as many local materials and parts as physically possible!
We designed this instrument to reflect the values and ethos of King Stingray through the celebration of sustainably sourced native timbers, the embodied narrative of these materials, and their considered use to create an elegant and exceptionally fun guitar!
Body & neck - hoop pine, with boring beetle cavities, & fungal stains (making the red and black)
Fingerboard - QLD Walnut
Nut - Gidgee off cuts
All timber is native sourced from @naturaledgetimber in bris, timber stock is typically all reclaimed old farm stock, always reclaimed
Fret dots - Tassie oak dowel offcuts
Pick guard - acrylic off cut
Pick guard screws - Bunnings!
Finish - anchor acrylic lacquer, buffed
Pickup - @leddinvintageguitars hand wound P90 bare nickel soap bars
tremolo - Leddin Vintage Guitars vintage supply, 70’s era Japanese made
Knobs - ex mining radar knobs sourced by Dave Leddin
Wiring - 50’s style circuit with orange drop capacitor, gotoh pots and cloth insulated cables.
