SZEPHYR GUITARS

MADE TO YOUR SPECS

with reclaimed timber

AUSSIE NATIVE

If we can help it we use nothing but Australian native timbers that have been ethically sourced - reclaimed either from arborists, decommissioned buildings or dismantled furniture. Occasionally we will stumble upon, receive or reclaim non-native timbers from donation or from unsalvageable instruments/furniture. However we aim to focus on Australian timbers from as local a source as possible and currently retain 95% Australian timber stock.

As much as we can we like to use salvaged hardware, components or electrics from decommissioned instruments, amps and effects. This allows us to work through instruments and client specs with as much authenticity, character and personability as possible while retaining our ethical and sustainable values. Why produce new when there is so much good gear just waiting to find a home?

We build our instruments with local in mind and receive all our parts, tooling, materials as locally as possible from local suppliers & Businesses. If we need a tool we go to Paddington hardware, Australian Luthier Suppliers on the Gold Coast, (or scower marketplace).

If we seek new pickups then we will again go to our local mate Dave, (P90's pictured above), and get the pickups built to spec locally. Of course we can't always reduce our footprint entirely, but if we can't get it made local or make it ourselves then we focus on our local suppliers until we can.
